Our state-of-the-art grow facility allows for an incredible selection. We use advanced techniques to analyze terpene profiles (the aromatic compounds responsible for a strain’s unique scent and effects) and trichome production (the tiny resin glands containing cannabinoids like THC). This ensures only the most flavorful and potent strains make the cut for crafting exceptional concentrates.
The Science of Separation: The Power of The Osprey
Once harvest time comes the flower are carefully cut and immediately frozen to preserve the terpenes. This frozen material is then sent to Couchlock Concentrates’ facility for the next stage: mechanical separation.
Here’s where the magic happens. The frozen flowers take a dip in a 75-gallon washing machine named “The Osprey” manufactured by Low Temp Industries. This high-tech system utilizes ice-cold water and gentle agitation to separate the trichomes, the resin glands containing the good stuff, from the plant matter.
The trichome-infused water then travels through a five-tier micron sieve collection system. Each sieve has a specific size designation (like 220-micron or 45-micron) that captures different sized trichome heads. Finally, the water is meticulously collected and re-run through the system to maximize yield.
Freeze-Dried Perfection: From Water to Hash
Following the wash cycle, the hash collected from each sieve tier undergoes a transformation. It enters an industrial freeze dryer, a machine that removes moisture through a low-pressure, sub-freezing process. This meticulous technique results in a fine, sand-like material composed almost entirely of trichome heads, bursting with concentrated cannabinoids and terpenes.
The Press Awaits: The Final Transformation
The freeze-dried hash, now ready for its final act, the press. The has is loaded into specialized rosin bags. These bags allow for the application of heat and pressure, a process that squeezes out the concentrated oil, also known as rosin. It is then packaged in sealed, child proof glass jars for maximum flavor retention.
